Mother's Day: Day Two

What Moms Do

What is a Mother?

A Mother has so many things to do,
From washing, ironing, cleaning to tying a shoe.
She scrubs, she mends, she cooks and sews,
She bathes the children and washes their clothes.
When they forget to wash their faces clean,
And their clothes are the muddiest you've ever seen,
Who repairs the clothes and scrubs them like new?
Of course, that is what a Mother will do.

Who becomes the doctor or the nurse when they are ill,
Applying a bandage or giving them a pill?
Who becomes a teacher when a child has homework?
She must never her duty shirk.
Who becomes a detective to find a toy or a book?
For missing things she must look and look?
Who becomes a listner to every heartache,
To every accompolishment that a child makes?
Who scolds their children when they are naughty,
Or remind them of God when they are to haughty?
Who tends her family with love and patience, too?
Of course that is what a Mother will do.

Mother's Care
To the tune of "Here we go round the Mulberry Bush".
Actions in Blue!
This is the way Mother combs__my hair, ("Comb" hair)
combs my hair, combs my hair;
This the way Mother combs my hair.
Mother cares for me.

This the way Mother fixes my food,
(Make "bowl" with one arm "stir" with other hand)
Fixes my food, fixes my food;
This is the way Mother fixes my food.
Mother cares for me.

This is the way Mother gives me a hug,
(Hug self)
Gives me a hug, gives me a hug;
This is the way Mother gives me a hug.
Mother cares for me.

This is the way Mother ties my bow,
(Tie "bow" at neckline)
Ties my bow, ties my bow;
This is the way Mother ties my bow.
Mother cares for me.

This is the way Mother reads to me,
(Make open book with hands.)
Reads to me, reads to me;
This the way Mother reads to me.
Mother cares for me.

This is the way Mother prays with me,
(Fold hands in prayer.)
Prays with me, prays with me;
This is the way Mother prays with me.
Mother cares for me.

Mother's Day: Day One

M is for Mom

A Mom (Mother) is a woman with children. My mom is a special person in my life. I love her very much and want to show her that I love her, too!

M - O - T - H - E - R

"M" is for the million things she gave me,

"O" means only that she's growing old,

"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,

"H" is for her heart of purest gold;

"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,

"R" means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell

"MOTHER,"

A word that means the world to me.

Howard Johnson (c. 1915)
