It's Autumn Time: Day One

I Know it's Autumn...

Read a book about Autumn, such as "I Know It's Autumn"--Eileen Spinelli or a book about seasons that includes autumn.

Talk about the seasons of the year and how summer is now over and it's autumn.

What are some of the ways we can know that it's autumn? (Daylight Savings means the sun comes up later, harvest time, weather starts to change, leaves change, school starts, Halloween and Thanksgiving, pumpkins, apples, birds fly south, etc.)

Sing it's "It's Autumn Time"

Fall Fingerplay:
Fall winds begin to blow
(blow like the wind)
Colored leaves fall fast and slow
(move hands, making motions like falling leaves)
Whirling, twirling all around
(spin around)
And at last they touch the ground
(touch the ground)

Fall Art:

  • It's Fall Headband: print, color, measure around child's head, attach with tape or staples.
