St. Patrick's Day: Day One

St. Patrick's Day History

Read a book about the history of St. Patrick's Day or watch a video from history.com:
St. Patrick's Day--Carmen Bredeson
Countdown to St. Patrick's Day--Annemarie Harris

St. Patty's Day VideosTalk about some of the main traditions of this holiday--wearing green, legends--leprechauns, rainbows, pots of gold, luck o' the Irish, shamrocks, etc.

The holiday started in Ireland. Do this online puzzle of the Irish Flag. (You can change the number of pieces and shapes to change the difficulty.)

Activities/Crafts:

Color one of these coloring pages using ONLY varying shades of green.

St. Patrick's Day Hat: *we painted it green.

Lucky Charms Sort and Count:
Pour out a small amount of the cereal. Help children sort by color/shape. Count the number in each group, order them from smallest to largest. Then, snack!

Music:
Pull out some shakers and sing this St. Patty's Day song: (Maybe even learn a jig to dance to it!)

For the Irish
