Activities:
Make snow by shaving up ice cubes in the blender. Let each child build a small snowman on a plastic plate. Observe the snowmen throughout the day as the melt. Experiment by placing snowmen in different parts of the room--direct sunlight/shade, high/low or by taking some outside or putting some in the freezer.
MELTING SNOW KIDS
In an open area, have your children pretend to be Snow Kids, standing straight and tall. Choose one child to be a Warm Breeze, and give the child a scarf. As the Warm Breeze gently touches the Snow Kids with the scarf, have them slowly melt down to the ground. When all the Snow Kids have melted, choose a new Warm Breeze and start the game again.
Craft:
Four Melted Snowman
Materials: - Glue
- Wax Paper
- Twigs
- Pipe Cleaner (orange)
- Googly Eyes
- Yarn
- Glitter
- Put a puddle of glue in the center of the wax paper, place twigs (arms), orange pipe cleaner (nose), googlye eyes, & yarn (tied for hanging) in the glue, sprinkle rainbow white glitter on the glue, and then let snowmen sit for 2-3 days
- Once Dried melted snowman should pull right off of the wax paper
Snack:
Snowcones--using shaved ice cube "snow," give each child a snowball scoop. Give several options of juice/flavoring to add to the ice. Eat right away or let it melt!
