Snowman Shapes

Snowmen are usually built out of different sizes of round snowballs. (CIRCLES!!!) We're going to see if we can make a snowman out of different shapes and what other shapes can be placed ON a snowman, too!

Activities:

Non-Snow Snowman

Build a snow man by moistening packing peanuts and sticking together When your ready to melt it simply put it out in the rain or turn the hose on it.

Use playdough to build, too. Let children experiement with different shapes to find the best way to build a snowman.

Pom-pom Snowman: Children glue the correct color of pom-pom into the open circles on the snowman.

Crafts:

Cotton Ball Snowman--build a snowman out of cotton balls OR use cotton balls dipped in paint to paint a snowman.

Snowman Paper Craft--cut out the different shapes to build a snowman

CIRCLE SNOW PEOPLE

Provide each of your children with two circles (one about 2 inches and one about 3 inches) cut from white paper. Have them glue their circles onto light blue paper to make snow people. For facial features and buttons, let them glue on small circles punched out of black paper. Help the children count the number of circles on their papers and write down the numbers. Then let them use crayons or markers to add such details as arms, hats, and scarves to their snow people.

Circle Snowman Stamp Art

Fluffy Snowmen

Materials:

• Glue
• Shaving Cream
• Paint

Directions:

• Mix glue and shaving cream together. paint three circles using the mixture. Let dry and mixture will look fluffy and textured.

Paper Plate Snowmen

Materials:

• Small Paper Plates
• Pom-pom's or butons
• Orange craft foam or rolled up orange paper
• Cotton
• Glue

Directions:

• Use black Pom-pom's on one small plate to make a snowman smile and eyes. Then have use the orange craft foam to make a carrot nose. Next fill in the spaces between the facial features with white cotton. Finally, glue the other plates to the bottom and add pom-pom buttons and small stick arms.

Snowball Bubble Wrap Snowmen

Materials:

• Bubble Wrap
• White Paint
• Construction Paper

Directions:

• Cut circle out of bubble wrap. Use the circles as stamps: press it onto white paint, then press onto paper (two or three high),to make a snowman that appears to made from snowballs.

Snacks--

Snowman Face Snack

Give each of your children rice cakes. Let them frost them with either cream cheese or frosting. Add raisins (or chocolate chips) for facial features, with a baby carrot nose.

Snowman Sandwiches
Use circular crackers or bread cut into circles to made a snowman sandwich. Spread with peanut butter or cream cheese.
